The Country’s BPO Sector Going More Steps Further

The BPO industry is on the list of top sources of profits and occupation in the Philippines. At present, there are now over 600,000 staff employed in the BPO sector, and the figures are estimated to go even higher these forthcoming months. This shows that outsourcing organizations in the united states, that provides great availability of English-speaking, college education holder labor force, has worked perfectly for business people worldwide.

On the other hand, Rembert de Villa, BPO industry executive, said that the Philippine administration will need to implement solid pursuits that would help uphold the growth of the profession for the next 10 years.

Professional and proficient workforce

The region offers the advantage particularly when business owners around the globe find out the value chain of companies, added Rembert, who also brain the Transformation Solutions of a BPO firm located in New York. He said that we a have much deeper pool of truly competent and talented workforce in health-related, finance, and legalized services.
Also another crucial component would be that the Filipinos have a normal appreciation to the American customs. Or to put more succinctly, the Filipino tradition is better aligned correctly to that of the United States of America.

With the types of technology we certainly have right now, international firms can be able to use outsourcing their business enterprise offshore. This appeals a lot to many politicians allowing them to lessen significant numbers on their operational expenditures.

Focusing on greater things

De Villa proceeded to go more steps even further by saying that the Philippines isn’t just about telemarketing or call center services, but a lot more capable to greater things, thinking about the skills and capabilities of the Filipinos. Outsourcing and call center services in the Philippines is just a tip of an iceberg, De Villa added.

The BPO community will quickly attract extremely professional people that have master’s degrees, law degrees, or PhD’s, amongst other industry experts, and employing their education and learning, skills and experience working for clients overseas, and generating higher wages.

Ultimately, De Villa wrapped up an interview stating that the Philippines need to no’t just center on providing telemarketing and call center services. We should also capitalize on our large population of English-speaking, exceptionally educated employees to do key business services. The target is not merely to provide labor, but also development business solutions.

That’s where the real value lies.

To Outsource or Not To Outsource

Aside from the perplexing question whether "to outsource, or not to outsource", another question is being asked around. In the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, the question whether to outsource to India or the Philippines, has started outsourcing companies debating.

I would say India and Philippines are the leading BPO countries in the world right now. India is a huge outsourcing company however, the Philippines is the "offshoring destination" according to the National Outsourcing Association (NOA). NOA is United Kingdom's sole outsourcing trading association. Some companies would prefer to outsource voice accounts because of the Filipinos' neutral accent while majority of back-office services are outsourced to India.

Compared to India, Philippines is more westernized when it comes to culture. The Philippine culture is close to those of the American people - of course, that's a given fact because Philippines as colonized by the Americans in the mid 1900's. Even up to this moment, America has a strong influence over the Philippine culture and even on the country's politics.

Most western companies are still debating whether to outsource to countries like Philippines and India. But sooner or later, these companies will soon have to accept that outsourcing can make their business easier and more cost-effective.

If you think about it, not ALL American companies can help sell/market your product or service. Neither can ALL Indian or Philippine outsourcing companies. It's important that you partner with the right BPO company if you want to make the best out of your business. Understand the advantages that outsourcing can do to help you develop your business.

Keeping Yourself Awake At Work

Philippine call center agents usually work on graveyard shifts. And sometimes, call center agents get these 'NO SLEEP' days when there's too much activity done within the day leaving not much time (or no time at all) for sleep before heading to the contact center.

Perhaps, after work you immediately went out shopping with a friend. Or you had a movie marathon with someone at home. You enjoyed your day too much and you forgot about sleeping. And you still have work later at night. Now, your problem would most likely be how to keep yourself awake at work even if you lack sleep.

1) If you still have little time before heading to the call center to work, try to put yourself to sleep.

2) Grab a cup of coffee before heading to the office.

3) Take a power nap during your break. Just don't over sleep.

4) If you feel sleepy, stand up. Or if it's possible, walk around for awhile. Do something to keep yourself moving.

5) Don't allow yourself to get too comfortable. If you get too comfortable on your chair, you'll fall asleep.

When I really get sleepy, I wash my face with cold water and listen to fast songs. Listening to soft music makes me really drowsy. Some of these tips might or might not work for you. But you have to identify which activity keeps you awake. Be careful of taking too much sugar. Although sweets can help perk you up, but the effect is not lasting. Too much sugar can make you feel more tired. Be mindful of your sugar intake.

My Love-Hate Affairs With Philippine Call Center

I live in the world's ideal business process outsourcing (BPO) country and yes, I've had my shares of call center stories because I've hopped from one Philippine call center to another.

My romance with the BPO industry began in 2004 when I got hired as a market researcher for an outbound call center. Back then, most people didn't entirely understand the concept of the call center industry.

Back then, most people think that call center agents are the new breed of telephone operators - transferring calls from one department to another. Right now, call center agents are the new breed of high-paying white-colllared professionals. Some people think that if you're in the call center, you're probably reeking more moolah than the average local store manager.

Working as a market researcher for an outbound call center I had my share of struggles. I was not accustomed to the work schedule. For eight hours, I had this funny accent. And I was getting frustrated with the expletives thrown at me almost every hour from the people we were calling! My affair with the outbound call center lasted several months and I decided to never step foot on a call center again.

My second love affair with the call center was in in 2005. I found myself again employed in another Philippines call center but this time, I was a tech support for an inbound customer service department of an American ISP provider. Again, I didn't last long. I didn't thought that TSRs required the longest of patience that anyone could have. Patience, at that moment, was something that I didn't have.

To sum it up, I've had short-lived love affairs with several Philippine call centers. My affairs with the call centers are short and tragic. If my affairs were lovestories, they never got to the point that you could say they were exciting or lasting.

But hey, guess what? I'm in a love-hate relationship with another call center company. I guess, I'm tied to the outsourcing world. :)
